The Peranan Tasawuf dalam Menghadapi Zaman Millennial

Abstract

Sufism provides a comprehensive understanding of a servant's position before Allah, which enables a person to live happily in this world and the hereafter. Sufism also plays a significant role in overcoming the spiritual problems experienced by everyone, as it can cleanse the soul of impurities and elevate human dignity to the pinnacle of victory. In the current industrial revolution era, social crises are on the rise and social interactions are dwindling. Many teenagers spend most of their time only with smartphones, which poses a significant problem that requires the right solution to maintain spiritual balance. As the core of Islamic teachings, Sufism can solve these problems. The literature research on the role of al-Ghazali's Sufism in facing the millennial era reveals that the fundamental human problem in this era is a spiritual void that leads to a moral crisis. Therefore, Sufism is essential in guiding humans to find God, eliminating the sense of emptiness that humans feel in this millennial era, and restoring the lost spiritual values. In this research, a multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary approach emphasizing normative-theological, psychological, and sociocultural approaches is used to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the role of Sufism in this millennial era
